Plans and billing
When you are charged, what the first charge covers, and what happens to your quota when you change plans mid-month.
Everything renews on the 1st
Every subscription bills on the 1st of the month, whichever day you signed up. Your first charge covers only the days between signing up and that 1st — you never pay a full month for a partial one.
| You subscribe to Scale ($69) on | Charged then | Charged on the 1st |
|---|---|---|
| September 10 | $48.30 — 21 of 30 days | $69.00 |
| September 20 | $25.30 — 11 of 30 days | $69.00 |
| September 28 | $0.00 — on us | $69.00 |
When fewer than 7 days are left before the 1st, those days are free. Charging you a few dollars and then the full month 72 hours later is two confusing lines on your card statement, so we skip the first one.
Your quota is not prorated
The first partial month costs less, but it carries the full monthly quota. Subscribe to Scale on the 10th and you pay for 21 days and get all 500,000 emails for them — which is what you need when you are migrating a list and the first weeks are the heaviest.
The daily cap still applies from day one. It is roughly a twentieth of the monthly quota and exists to protect deliverability, not to ration what you bought — a burst that large from a new domain is what gets mail filtered.
Quota counts by calendar month, and since billing also lands on the 1st, the two are always the same window. Your quota resets on the same day your invoice is issued.
Changing plans mid-month
Nothing is charged at the moment you switch. The time you did not use on the old plan becomes a credit, the time left on the new one becomes a charge, and the difference lands on your next invoice, itemized.
| Growth → Scale on September 25 | Amount |
|---|---|
| Unused time on Growth | − $10.63 |
| Remaining time on Scale | + $25.30 |
| Scale, full month | + $69.00 |
| Total on October 1 | $83.67 |
Moving down works the same way. If the credit is bigger than the charge, it is not refunded to your card — it stays as credit and reduces your next invoices until it runs out.
If a payment fails
Your service keeps running for 7 days after the due date. We email you on the first and third day telling you how much time is left, and your card is retried automatically in that window — most failures are an expired card and take one click to fix.
After those 7 days the plan stops applying and the account falls back to free limits. Nothing is deleted.
